This means applications and data can grow without impacting your business performance or customer experience\u201d.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"http:\/\/ismiletechnologies.com\/cloud-migration-services\/\">Cloud migration<\/a><\/span> can be extremely useful for a company that wishes to grow and use the services that the cloud can provide. One large issue with this, however, is the migration itself. Many companies have issues migrating their infrastructure over to the cloud.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I\u2019m writing this blog to help with that. I\u2019m going to list out steps that a company can take before migrating\u00a0in order to\u00a0make the migration as easy and effective as possible.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"><br \/><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For transparency, I found a\u00a0really good\u00a0blog on this subject on the website\u00a0newrelic. I will be using this as my source for this blog. Someone who is at the top of all that goes on when it comes to migrating is necessary to make it work.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <span style=\"color: #000000;\">second step<\/span> is to decide whether you want a shallow cloud integration or a deep cloud integration.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Shallow cloud integration is when you make as few changes as possible to get your applications to run on the cloud servers. Will you have one full application in one cloud and another application in another? Will you have one application split between two clouds? Or will you have your applications coded in such a way that they\u2019ll work on any cloud server?\u00a0The advantages for leaning toward fewer cloud services is that you can take more advantage of what they can offer, but the advantage for leaning towards many cloud services is that you have better negotiating power.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <span style=\"color: #000000;\">fourth step<\/span> is to create cloud KPI\u2019s. A KPI is a key performance indicator, basically a set of metrics you set to see if your application is meeting your expectations as you migrate.\u00a0This can be anything, such as user experience, application performance, etc.\u00a0These metrics are there to help you see if you\u2019re falling behind in any areas.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> fifth step<\/span> is\u00a0to\u00a0create performance baselines. This is\u00a0just finding a way to measure your pre-migration productivity against your post-migration productivity. You should set a baseline for each KPI you created\u00a0in the last step.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <span style=\"color: #000000;\">sixth step<\/span> is to prioritize migration components. Once you start migrating, you\u2019ll have to decide in what order you\u2019ll migrate the different applications. To do that, you\u2019ll need to go through each of the applications and determine an order that is most efficient.\u00a0As it may be the case that some applications rely on others.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <span style=\"color: #000000;\">seventh step<\/span> is to refactor your applications. This is just changing up your applications so that you can work on them as efficiently as possible on the new cloud servers. This is an extremely tricky and involved\u00a0step since\u00a0the location of data can hamper performance if done carelessly.\u00a0Be sure your data is as accessible as possible whilst it\u2019s being migrated.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <span style=\"color: #000000;\">ninth step<\/span> is to switch over the company\u2019s production system over to the cloud server. You can try to do this all at once or a little bit at a time.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <span style=\"color: #000000;\">tenth and final step<\/span> is after you\u2019ve finished migrating, review your resource distribution.
